Roll for the Fences board game and app

We’ve been in the dugout long enough. It’s time to take the field.
After years of design, development, play-testing, and more than a few extra-inning debates about game mechanics, Roll for the Fences is officially heading to Kickstarter — and we couldn’t be more fired up about it.
For those just joining us: Roll for the Fences is a tabletop baseball board game that puts the strategy of managing a real lineup in your hands. You’ll choose one of four teams — the Comets, the Dragons, the Red Rockers, and the Knights — each with their own strengths, styles, and personalities. Each team has 20 players. Then you’ll step into the manager’s role, making real decisions about batting order, the game-day pitcher, and in-game strategy while dice determine what happens when bat meets ball.
It plays like baseball feels — moments of tension, bursts of excitement, and the occasional heartbreak of a game that slips away in the final inning.
The Kickstarter campaign is our opportunity to bring this game to a wider audience, produce it at the quality it deserves, and build a community of fans and backers who are as passionate about the game as we are. Your support won’t just fund a print run — it will help shape the future of Data Games Lab and everything we plan to build next.

Here’s what you can look forward to as a backer:

  • Early access pricing before the game goes to retail
  • Exclusive backer content available only through the campaign
  • Behind-the-scenes updates on production, artwork, and future expansions
  • A direct line to the creators — we want your feedback and we mean it

The campaign is launching soon, and the best way to make sure you don’t miss it is to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us here on the blog. We’ll be dropping more details about the game, the campaign, and some exciting reveals in the weeks ahead.

First pitch is coming. Get in your seats.

Welcome to Data Games Lab: Where Strategy Meets the Board

Every great game starts with a question. Ours was simple: how do you build a game that’s deep enough to reward strategy, fun enough to bring the whole family to the table, and smart enough to use data and technology as a feature — not a gimmick?
Data Games Lab was born out of a love for games that do more. We’re a small, independent game studio based in Southern California building card and dice-based games that are smarter, more immersive, and more meaningfully connected to the world around us — whether that’s the thrill of a sport, the challenge of a puzzle, or the chaos of a great party game. We believe the best games reward strategy without punishing newcomers, and create moments worth talking about long after everything is packed away. That’s the experience we’re building toward with every card, every die roll, and every line of code that powers our companion apps and digital enhancements.
